Resident of Lori Arrested on Suspicion of Giving Electoral Bribe

Investigation is conducted in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out circumstances of apparently giving and receiving electoral bribe.

The resident of Lori province, being employed by one of the companies operating in Spitak town, being informed that the director’s son was involved as a candidate for deputy within one of the party alliances, in order to support him, called her fellow villager and apparently offered 10.000 AMD as an electoral bribe. Being refused she called another fellow villager and promised to cancel the latter’s debt of 7.500 AMD if he voted for the alliance during the elections to be held on 20 June, 2021.

A criminal case was initiated in Gugark Police Division according to the Parts 1 and 2 of the Article 154.2 of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which is conducted in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

The resident of Lori province was arrested on suspicion of committing an act envisaged by the Part 2 of the Article 154.2 of RA Criminal Code and gave self-incriminating testimony.

During preliminary investigation investigative actions were conducted – a number of witnesses were questioned, confrontations, search were conducted.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigative and other procedural actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of circumstances of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
