One more Case of Breaching Confidentiality of Ballot
On 29 June, 2021 the resident of Vardenis submitted a report in the Police Station informing that during snap elections of the RA National Assembly held on 20 June, 2021 27 year-old resident of the same town met him in front of the precinct N 21/52 and persuaded to vote for one of the alliances and take the ballot mentioned by him out of the precinct as a guarantee. After voting he met 27 year-old man and showed him the ballot taken out of the precinct.
A criminal case was initiated in Vardenis Police Division according to the Parts 1 and 2 of the Article 154 of RA Criminal Code which was sent to Vardenis Investigative Division of Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee and was received in proceeding.
During preliminary investigation of the criminal case signature not to leave was used as a pretrial measure against the resident of Vardenis. The latter was questioned as a suspect. 27 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of breaching the confidentiality of ballot.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
