Two Citizens of Turkey, with RA Citizen’s Help, Crossed RA State Border Using False Documents; Charges Pressed against them

In the result of large-scale investigative actions conducted and operative-intelligence measures taken jointly with several subdivisions of the RA National Security Service within the criminal proceeding investigated in General Department of Investigation of Crimes against the State, Fundamentals of the Constitutional Order and Public Security of the RA Investigative Committee, citizens of the Republic of Turkey I.Q., E.Y. and RA citizen A.M. were found on February 20, 2024 at various addresses of Yerevan and arrested.

In the result of investigative actions it was found out that I.Q. and E.Y, violating the requirements of the Article 11 of the RA Law «On State Border» and the RA Government’s decision N 702-Ն dated May 12, 2011 «On Establishing the RA State Border Regime», by using false documents, illegally - without specified documents and proper permission, crossed the RA state border through «Bagratashen» checkpoint and entered the Republic of Armenia. The RA citizen A.M. apparently helped E.Y. use false document and cross the RA state border.

Charges were pressed against I.Q. and E.Y. according to the Part 1 of the Article 457 and the Part 1 of the Article 469 of RA Criminal Code, and against the RA citizen A.M. according to the Part 1 of the Article 46-457 and the Part 1 of the Article 46-469 of RA Criminal Code. Motions were submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against them.

The citizens of Turkey I.Q. and E.Y. were detained, by the court’s decision home detention and absence ban were chosen as a pretrial measure against A.M.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
