Stabbing in a restaurant; suspect arrested

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on stabbing committed in a restaurant on February 17, 2016. The suspect was arrested.
 

On February 17 at about 01:10 a report was received from “Astghik” medical center informing that A. Aleqsanyan, born in 1981, with cut-pierced wound on the half of the chest was taken to the medical center.
 

In the result of measures taken in the framework of the criminal case it was found that the 35 year-old man had been inflicted heavy bodily damage in a restaurant complex on February 17 at about 00:30 during the row erupted on domestic issues.
 

On the same day a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district according to the Part 1 of the Article 112 of RA Criminal Code, an investigatory group was formed.
 

A. Aleqsanyan was found an injured party but he was not questioned as according to the doctor’s certificate the injured was operated, he was unconscious and was not able to give testimony.
 

On February 17 a 33 year-old resident of Yerevan turned himself to law enforcement bodies and told that he had stabbed A. Aleqsanyan in the restaurant. On February 17 the 33 year-old man was arrested as a suspect, gave detailed testimony and told that he regretted for what he had done stating that the injured was the godfather of his cousin and his children and he had known him since 2008. According to the suspect he had committed the crime under the influence of alcohol after which he took him to hospital.
 

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory actions are conducted to provide the objective, comprehensive and complete investigation of circumstances of the case.
 

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
