Criminal case initiated on murder of Arrmavir region Governor's advisor Manuk Simonyan sent to court

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on murder of Arrmavir region Governor's advisor Manuk Simonyan was completed in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee. Charge was pressed against the latter's wife and the criminal case was sent to court.

The body of Manuk Simonyan, born in 1965, was found wrapped and tied on July 25, 2017 at about 23:30 at the area called «Dalarik's canyon».

In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions of great volume conducted in the framework of the criminal case initiated on the case a number of circumstances significant for the case – the motive, the site, the day were found, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; she is Manuk Simonyan's wife.

Particularly, through preliminary investigation it was grounded that in the course of time the woman had been periodically subjected to violence by her husband. On the morning of July 22, 2017 another argument took place between the spouses after which the husband fell asleep and the wife hit the sleeping husband for numerous times with an axe, the latter died at the site of the injuries he had sustained. Then the wife rang her son and called him home. On the next day at about 04:00 the woman together with her son took the husband's body in the latter's car and hid at a deserted area on the right side of Myasnikyan-Dalarik of Armavir region where the body was found.   

On the base of the sufficient evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding charge was pressed against the victim's wife according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code, detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.
