Crimes Related to Domestic Violence: 2025

 

In 2025 2.398 criminal proceedings related to domestic violence were investigated in the RA Investigative Committee (2.207 in 2024), 630 of which had been transferred from 2024. 

In the reporting period 380 criminal proceedings on 388 people with the bill of indictment were sent to court (405 criminal proceedings on 416 people in 2024), 7 more medical compulsion proceedings were sent to court with final act (4 in 2024), 972 were terminated (735 in 2024), 887 of which on rehabilitative (663 in 2024), and 85 on non-rehabilitative base (72 in 2024), 284 were combined (235 in 2024), 32 criminal proceedings were sent to another structure (28 in 2024), 93 were registered as ones within which procedural and evidentiary actions were completed (232 in 2024), 630 were transferred to 2026 (568 in 2025). 

3 of 375 proceedings sent to court were investigated on murder, 1 – on murder attempt, 1 – on infanticide by a mother, 4 – on inflicting heavy damage to health, 10 – on inflicting damage of medium gravity to health, 39 – on inflicting light damage to health, 1 – on Kidnapping, 4 –on illegal deprivation of freedom, 20 – on physical impact, 211 – on physical impact, 10  - against sexual freedom, 1 – on involving a child in committing antisocial acts, 1 – on obstructing visitation between a parent or other close relative and a child, 1 – on failure to fulfill or improperly fulfill the duty of raising or caring for a child,  8 – on avoiding paying alimony, 8 – on failure to comply with an urgent intervention decision or a protective order, 52 – on other crimes. 

25 of 417 victims within the criminal proceedings sent to court were up to 12, 16 – between 13 and 14, 11 – between 15 and 18 years old, 365 were over 18.
