Head of the Special Investigation Service of Georgia Arrived in Armenia; Memorandum of Cooperation Signed (photos)

The delegation headed by Karlo Katsitadze, Head of the Special Investigation Service of Georgia has arrived in Armenia.

The visit takes place within the framework of the official invitation made by Argishti Kyaramyan, the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee, during the visit paid to Georgia on September 6, 2023.

On March 5 the meeting of the leaders of the two investigative bodies was held at the Investigative Committee.

Argishti Kyaramyan has thanked his Georgian partner for accepting the invitation and has expressed confidence that the return visit will move the cooperation of the RA Investigative Committee and the Special Investigation Service of Georgia to a new level, in line with the traditionally warm relations between the two friendly countries, as well as will promote bilateral and multilateral international-legal cooperation. The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee has noted that the signing of the memorandum of understanding is aimed at the development of the potential of structures to counter transnational crime with criminal-legal tools, in line with the requirements of the time.

Karlo Katsitadze, Head of the Special Investigation Service of Georgia has thanked for the warm reception, has expressed confidence that the centuries-old history of brotherhood between the Armenian and Georgian peoples, the multi-vector close ties developing between the two countries provide prerequisites of trust to move the relations of the investigative bodies as well to a qualitatively new level. He has underlined the importance of implementation of joint projects directed to quality improvement, experience exchange in the interest of strengthening the legal system and protecting the rights of citizens in both countries.

As a result of the meeting Argishti Kyaramyan and Karlo Katsitadze signed a memorandum of understanding between the RA Investigative Committee and the Special Investigation Service of Georgia. With this, it is planned to develop cooperation in the areas of exchange of best practices and methods in the field of preliminary investigation, conducting training courses for strengthening the capacities of both institutions, exchanging information, holding joint consultations, and participating in international thematic conferences.

Mr. Katsitadze, accompanied by Argishti Kyaramyan, toured in the central administrative building of the RA Investigative Committee. He was introduced with the material and technical resources for ensuring the current activities of the Committee and conducting the preliminary investigation.

As a sign of friendship and closer bilateral relations, the Head of the Special Investigation Service of Georgia planted a fir tree in the yard of the RA Investigative Committee.

The visit of the Georgian delegation continues within the framework of which other events are also planned.
