Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on committing violent sexual actions against a foreign national was completed in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

In the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding apparent factual data were obtained on the allegation that while driving his car, H.M. noticed a foreign national and, upon learning that the latter wished to visit the Haghpat Monastery Complex, offered to give her a free ride. However, H.M. transported the victim to his own orchard and locked the gates of the property.

Then H.M. committed violent sexual actions against the victim. However, the latter resisted, called for help, and prevented the perpetrator from continuing the actions. After it H.M. stopped the actions and opened the gates. 

In the course of the preliminary investigation public criminal prosecution was initiated against H.M. according to the Part 1 of the Article 198 of RA Criminal Code. 

Home detention and bail were used as a pretrial measure against him. 

The criminal proceeding with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor for approval and referral to court.
