As a result of large-scale complex operative-intelligence measures taken by the employees of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs and National Security Service in the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on murder committed in Merdzavan, one person was arrested and presented to the investigative body on the grounds of reasonable suspicion of having committed a crime.

As a result of urgent investigative actions conducted during the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding, evidence prohibited by the Criminal Code - clear traces linking the person to the act, were discovered in the building belonging to him. These included the mask, gloves, shoes, jacket, and night vision device used during the commission of the crime, which the latter had attempted to destroy by burning.

Numerous evidentiary and procedural actions are conducted in the course of the preliminary investigation, to find out all circumstances of the case, as well as to find the assault rifle used in the commission of the crime. 

The Investigative Committee affirms that the bodies conducting operative-intelligence activities have full control over the operational situation. The investigative body, within the framework of the means permitted by the Criminal Procedure Code, will take all necessary measures to ensure the inevitability of criminal liability and to guarantee the comprehensiveness of the preliminary investigation.

Considering the public resonance of the criminal proceeding, the Investigative Committee will periodically issue statements regarding the results of the investigation, within the limits of admissibility prescribed by law.
