On the base of the report received on June 20, 2025 from the RA National Security Service, a criminal proceeding was initiated in General Department for Investigation of Crimes against the State, Fundamentals of the Constitutional Order and Public Security of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 418 and the Part 1 of the Article 424 of RA Criminal Code on the case of espionage, creating conditions for a representative of a foreign state to access information containing state secrets, treason by providing assistance to carry out hostile activities committed by an employee of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

In the course of preliminary investigation public criminal prosecution was initiated against the employee of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs according to the Part 1 of the Article 418 of RA Criminal Code. 

Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against the latter. 
In the course of preliminary investigation no data was obtained regarding the participation of other individuals in the mentioned crime, including other employees of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as any support or assistance to the mentioned employee. Therefore, the information disseminated through mass media claiming that the mentioned employee did not act alone is not accurate.

In refutation of the information disseminated by the media, we would also like to clarify that the individual in question has never held a high-ranking official position, nor has served as the RA consul abroad.
