Shots at Precinct N 11/11

On 20 June, 2021 at 08:30 a call was received from a citizen informing that there were shots at the precinct N 11/11 in Azatashen community. On the same day at 10:10 a call was received from a medical center informing that two residents of Geghanist community with diagnosis of polytrauma were taken to them.

During preparation of materials a number of circumstances were found out.

Pursuant to initial data, on 20 June, 2021 at about 08:30 an argument broke out at the precinct N 11/11 located in Azatashen community, Ararat province between a deputy candidate of one of the parties participating in snap elections of National Assembly, members of the same party, observers at the same precinct among them the candidate’s son and the chairman of the commission. The argument  went on in the yard of the precinct where some people who had come to take part in the voting also were involved in it during which shots were fired.

Considering that in the prepared materials there was a legal base a criminal case was initiated in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 2 of the Article 149.2 and the Article 154.4 of RA Criminal Code.

In the result of investigative and other procedural actions conducted during preliminary investigation it was found out that the shots had been fired by the deputy candidate’s son who is not able to take part in the investigative actions.

Inspection of the scene was conducted during which 3 bullets of 9mm caliber - one of them not fired were found, the gas pistol which was the instrument of the crime was confiscated.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Measures are taken to find out all circumstances, to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
