Cooperation Fields between the RA Investigative Committee and the U.S. INL Office Discussed (photos)

Arsen Ayvazyan, Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee received Marie Kurth, responsible for the U.S. INL programs in Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, who was accompanied by the delegation of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia headed by Alexis Haftvani, INL Office Director.

Arsen Ayvazyan has welcomed Mrs. Kurth on being at the RA Investigative Committee for the first time and has expressed confidence that under her coordination the programs implemented in Armenia will be fostered in a new way. The Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee noted that the programs aimed at the development of logistical and professional capacities of the RA Investigative Committee, implemented by the Embassy’s support, had been distinguished by their objective results.

Particularly, due to the electronic computer-technical laboratory for evidence acquisition within the crimes committed in the field of cybercrimes and high technology crimes, invested in the RA IC by the U.S. support, evidence of substantial importance for the proceedings were obtained. And the new experience and skills acquired during the seminars and training courses held with the involvement of the U.S. specialists, in the field of conduction of preliminary investigation within various crimes, have raised the level of professional skills of investigators.

Mrs. Kurth has expressed satisfaction about the fact that the implemented projects have tangibly contributed to the efficiency of the activity of the Investigative Committee and quality enhancement of investigations which also creates important prerequisites for planning and implementation of other programs and the expansion of forms of cooperation. The latter is an important component in the reforms in the law enforcement system of Armenia.

Marie Kurth and Alexis Haftvani also considered valuable the investment of the RA Investigative Committee in the criminal-legal fight against domestic and gender crimes, as well as the Committee’s active involvement in various events organized by the U.S.A., aimed at the international cooperation against crimes.

During the meeting the priority directions arising from the needs of the RA Investigative Committee have been discussed with which there are opportunities to develop cooperation and implement new joint projects.

Reference has also been made to the U.S. Embassy’s new program for promoting anti-corruption reforms, launched a few days before.
