As a Result of Shots Fired by Rival on May 17 one Serviceman was Killed, another Received Injury; Criminal Proceeding Initiated (photos)
On May 17, 2023 at about 16:15 the servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, out of hatred, intolerance and hostility due to racial, national, ethnic origin, with the intent to deprive of life the servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, carrying out their service duty, fired shots from artillery weapons towards the combat positions of the protection area of the unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense located at the eastern direction of the RA border. As a result, the serviceman of the same unit received injury. He later died of the injury he had received.
The armed forces of Azerbaijan also fired targeted shots towards the car of “UAZ” make which had left for the mentioned combat position to show medical aid to the wounded serviceman. As a result, the physician serviceman of the same unit received injury on his wrist. The serviceman’s condition is assessed as satisfactory.
In regard with the report received on the case a criminal proceeding was initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 155, the Points 1, 7 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155 and the Points 3 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 264 of RA Criminal Code
Urgent and necessary evidentiary and procedural actions are conducted to find out the circumstances of the case, to give legal assessment to the criminal actions of the armed forces of Azerbaijan.
