As a Result of Illgegal Tree Felling Pecuniary Damage in Particulalry Large Amount, 17 Million AMD Caused to the State

Within the criminal proceeding investigated in Tavush Regional Investigaitve Department of the RA Investigative Committee apparent factual data were obtained on the allegation that as a result of improper performance of official duties committed by the director and other officials of “Hayantar” SNCO branch, pecuniary damage in particularly large amount, 17 million 299 thousand 250 AMD was caused to the state.
Particularly, G.Kh., being obliged to ensure the normal operation of the SNCO branch,
did not exercise proper control over forest use until September 15, 2021. As a result, 500 trees were illegally cut down at the forestry area and pecuniary damage in particularly large amount was caused to the state.
On January 15, 2025 motions were submitted to the prosecutor to initiate public criminal prosecution against the director of “Hayantar” SNCO branch, two forest chiefs and 6 foresters. The motions were sufficed.
On January 16, 2025 public criminal prosecution was initiated against two persons according to the Part 2 of the Article 446 of RA Criminal Code, against seven persons – according to the Part 1 of the Article 446 of RA Criminal Code.
Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against one person, home detention, absence ban amd mortgage were applied as alternative pretrial meausres against one person, suspension of office and absence ban were applied against two persons, absence ban and mortgage were applied against two persons, absence ban was applied against three persons.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
