Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on procurement of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount and their transfer to a detained person in a penitentiary was completed in General Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee. 

In the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding apparent factual data were obtained on the allegation that the lawyer, acting as defense counsel for a detained person held in a penitentiary, with the intention of unlawfully procuring narcotic drugs at the latter’s instigation, and during a visit at the penitentiary transferring them to him, on January 10, 2026 met the detainee’s relative, and illegally obtained from him substances of various types containing narcotic drugs, packaged inside a cigarette box. 

Subsequently, concealing the cigarette box with narcotic drugs in his bag, the lawyer visited the penitentiary, however he could not transfer it, as the penitentiary officials found it during his personal search and took the narcotic drugs in various types and amounts. 

Public criminal prosecution was initiated against V. A. and D.M. according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code, against the detainee - according to the Part 3 of the Article 44-396 of RA Criminal Code. 

Detention was selected as a pretrial measure against V.A. and D.M..

The criminal proceeding with the bill of indictment was sent to court.
