Foreign Nationals who had Smuggled 10 kg Narcotic Drugs to the RA Detained
On October 9, 2025 a report was received from the RA National Security Service informing that a foreign national was going to smuggle narcotic drugs in particularly large amount -10 kg “Marijuana” to Armenia and sell it for 50 thousand USD.
As a result of procedural and evidentiary actions conducted, as well as large-scale operative-intelligence measures taken by the Yerevan City Department and other operative subdivisions of the National Security Service in the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on the base of the report, in the Department for Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking, against Sexual Immunity of Juveniles and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee, it was found out that on October 28, 2025 two foreign nationals, in group, illegally crossed the RA state border and smuggled narcotic drugs in particularly large amount - about 7.5 kg “Marijuana” with the intent to sell. On the same day they were arrested.
In the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding it was also found out that one of the foreign nationals, having been imprisoned for illegal border crossing, in April 2025, after serving the sentence, illegally crossed the RA state border and entered another country without the required documents and proper authorization.
Public criminal prosecution was initiated against the two foreign nationals according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393, the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 399, and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 469 of RA Criminal Code.
Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against them.
Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding is ongoing.
