Deputy Chairman of Investigative Committee Received U.S. Embassy Representatives

 

The Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Vazgen Avetisyan received the representatives of Federal Bureau of Investigation of the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Embassy Yerevan's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Vazgen Avetisyan expressed gratitude for the visit.

The Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee underlined that since the formation of the Investigative Committee, invaluable support has been provided to the system through cooperation with the U.S. Embassy.

At the beginning of the meeting, Vazgen Avetisyan presented the powers of the Investigative Committee to his U.S. colleagues, emphasizing the possibility of conducting preliminary investigation within various criminal proceedings.

Referring to the assistance programs provided by them, the U.S. partners highlighted their new focus on combating transnational crimes and cybercrime.

Vazgen Avetisyan thanked the representatives of the U.S. Embassy for the support received so far emphasizing the need for training, especially for the investigators of the Department for Investigation of Cybercrime and High Technology Crime and the Department for Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking, against Sexual Immunity of Juveniles and Illegal Turnover of Drugs.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reached agreements on various areas of cooperation.
