In the result of investigatory actions of great volume conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount committed by an organized group was found; the drug had been introduced to Armenia from the USA.
In the result of investigatory actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case the members of the group engaged in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs were identified; one of them lives in the USA, two live in Armenia.
Thus, pursuant to actual data obtained through preliminary investigation, the man Armenian by nationality who lived in the USA had made an arrangement with his childhood friend living in Armenia and the latter’s acquaintance on selling drugs in particularly large amount. According to the arrangement the man illegally procured drugs of “Methamphetamine” type in particularly large amount and concealing it in the parcel sent to the Republic of Armenia. In the RA his friend received it and with the purpose of selling tried to pass the parcel with drugs to the other member of the group, however it was found.
On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the two citizens living in Armenia according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 266 of RA Criminal Code, detention was used as a pretrial measure against them. The criminal case on their part with the bill of indictment was sent to court.
At the same time the investigator made a decision to involve the man living in the USA as a defendant according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 266, the Point 1 of the Part 4 of the Article 267.1 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure and search was declared against him. The part on him was separated as a separate proceeding and the relevant subdivision of the police was tasked to take measures to bring the wanted to the investigative body.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
