Investigation is conducted in Vedi Investigative Division of Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out all circumstances of murder attempt committed by the resident of Ararat village against people carrying out construction work in the church.
On June 6, 2020 at 7:00 the resident of Ararat province submitted a report informing that on June 5 at about 19:30 while carrying out construction work in the church at the area of Ararat village the resident of the same village fired 3-4 shots towards his friends and other people. However, they neutralized him taking the pistol from him which was later presented to law enforcement body.
A criminal case was initiated in Vedi Investigative Division of Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 (murder attempt) and the Part 1 of the Article 235 (illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of RA Criminal Code.
During preliminary investigation a number of urgent investigatory and other procedural actions, including inspection of the scene were conducted during which 2 fired capsules of 5.45mm caliber and 1 cartridge case of a pistol were found. A number of forensic examinations were commissioned.
In the result of investigatory actions and operative-intelligence measures the person having committed the alleged crime – 40 year-old resident of Ararat was found and arrested.
Charge was pressed against him for murder attempt committed in a way dangerous for many people's life and illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices. A motion was submitted to court to choose detention as a pretrial measure against him. It was sufficed.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find out all circumstances of the case, to provide the objective, comprehensive and complete investigation of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
