Criminal Case Initiated on Taking, Giving Bribe in Particularly Large Amount, Bribe Mediation and Extortion; Criminal Case Sent to SIS

A criminal case was initiated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee on taking, giving bribe in particularly large amount, bribe mediation and extortion.

On July 10, 2018 the report submitted by the RA NA deputy Alik Sargsyan to Special Investigatory Service was received in the proceeding of the RA IC General Department of Particularly Important Cases informing that since 2012 the former governor of Ararat region has demanded money in particularly large amount – 60.000 USD threatening to publish defamatory information about him.

Urgent procedural actions were conducted in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee to find out the circumstances mentioned in the report.

During preparation of materials the former governor of Ararat region submitted an explanation then a report, as well informing that in 2008 he transferred money to Alik Sargsyan who was a the Chief of the RA Police that time to take his former employee's son for employment in the police. However, the latter was not employed and the money was not returned.

Considering that in the prepared materials allegedly there are elements of crimes envisaged by the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 182, the Point 2 of the Part 4 of the Article 311, the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 312 and the Part 1 of the Article 313 of RA Criminal Code a criminal case was initiated in the RA IC General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases. A decision was made to send the criminal case to Special Investigatory Service, according to investigatory subordination.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
